Welcome to 4th grade!
Dear Families and Students,
Welcome to Ms. Davis' fourth grade integrated mathematics and literacy website! In Room 3, we believe that mathematics and literacy go together very well. This website was created for you and your child to explore, as our class learns more about geometry and literacy together. Integrating these two important subjects will help to deepen your child's understanding about the content provided and encourages life long learning.
The website features vocabulary, children's literature, word problems, and activities that can be completed at home. Also, I have included many fun and exciting websites, board games, and applications for you and your child to check out. The information that your child is learning in class, the information provided on this website, and the parent/child activities, correlate with the Pennsylvania Common Core Standards for geometry and literacy. The standards are used to guide instruction in our school district, as well as instruction statewide. The standards that we will cover include:
Mathematics:
CC.2.3.4.A.1: Draw lines and angles and identify these in two‐dimensional figures.
C.2.3.4.A.2: Classify two‐dimensional figures by properties of their lines and angles.
CC.2.3.4.A.3: Recognize symmetric shapes and draw lines of symmetry
Literacy:
Standard CC.1.1.4.E: Read with accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
Standard CC.1.4.4.L: Demonstrate a grade‐appropriate command of the conventions of standard English grammar, usage, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
Standard CC.1.5.4.A: Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions on grade level topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.
